Marcia Kittler has been involved with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's new PS-Prep program for voluntary private sector preparedness. She speaks to associations and other groups about the market pressures and opportunities the PS-Prep program is creating on supply chain vendors and purchasing patterns. She produces resources and a solid overview of the three standards that DHS designated for the PS-Prep program in June 2010.

March 29, 2011: Marcia Kittler presented on PS-Prep and the intersection of security management and business continuity, at the Midwest Security Conference, in Lisle, Illinois. For more information about the annual conference visit: www.midwestsecurityconference.com.

December 10, 2010: Marcia Kittler delivered a 'Train the Trainers' workshop to SCORE executives interested in promoting resiliency within the Illinois small business and start-up community.

In the autumn of 2010, Marcia Kittler and her team delivered Disaster Assistance Planning webinars and training workshops for the College of DuPage Small Business Development Center. Small businesses in DuPage County and the greater Chicagoland area were targeted under a program funded by the US SBA,the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and Illinois SBDC. 

On August 13, 2010, Marcia Kittler trained eighty-five professionals who attended the Summer training workshops delivered by ASIS-Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago's Police Department. Marcia's topics included:

security management, and continuity

On June 19, 2010, Marcia Kittler participated with the Lake Cook Regional Critical Incident Partnership (www.lcrcip.org) in the delivery of its Full-Scale Exercise. Local, state, and federal response partners worked together in Lake County, in cooperation with private sector and military organizations, including the U.S. Army, investing resources worth several millions of dollars in the design and execution of this exercise.

The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) Supply Chain Forum gathered for Marcia Kittler's presentation on "Striving for Survival - The Reality that Drives Business Continuity Planning" on May 24, 2010. Best practices and building a business case for BCP were included in the highlights.

In May of 2010, the Illinois Small Business Development Center at the College of DuPage asked Marcia Kittler to join a Disaster Preparedness Forum panel discussion. She contributed her business continuity expertise to an audience of small business owners, with experts in insurance, accounting, property restoration, disaster recovery technologies, and homeland security.

DeVry Inc. (www.devryinc.com), an MK Business Solutions client, was named a Finalist in the category of 2010 Crisis Strategy of the Year, for the international CIR Business Continuity Awards. The Business Continuity Awards, hosted by Continuity, Insurance & Risk (CIR) magazine based in the UK, recognizes excellence within the field of business continuity and operational risk management. Cynthia Berry, manager of Business Continuity and Security for DeVry Inc., states, "Being a finalist for such a respected industry award is truly an honor." She notes that the contributions of Marcia Kittler of MK Business Solutions, the DeVry business continuity team, and the support of DeVry Inc. leadership were instrumental in developing a notable Crisis Strategy.  

On April 7, 2010 Marcia Kittler presented "Business Continuity for Small Businesses" to The Advisors, a group of collaborating organizations in Chicago's North Shore communities.   

On March 18, Marcia Kittler presented "Business Continuity and Threat Assessment's Role" to the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. ATAP is a partnership that enables law enforcement, mental health and corporate security professionals to obtain exceptional education and exchange ideas and strategies to address issues related to threats, vulnerabilities and homeland security.
